St. Andrew’s Episcopal School seeks a creative, energetic, and visionary educator to become the Preschool I Homeroom in the Lower School.The Lower School program at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School utilizes a co-teacher model in all preschool classrooms. The Preschool I Teachers hold equal responsibility for the education and welfare of all students ages 2 to 3 years old, including parent communication, lesson planning, instructional delivery, classroom management, and development of classroom routines and protocols. Applicants must have a keen understanding of the developmental needs of young students, show a willingness to work independently, flexibly, and collaboratively with other disciplines, and actively embrace the educational philosophy that underlies the school. This is a salaried, benefits-eligible, full-time position for the 2026-27 school year beginning August 19, 2026. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities:
Curriculum & Planning: Design and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and learning objectives that align with school standards and foster a culture of inquiry and discovery.
Environment Design: Maintain an engaging, dynamic indoor and outdoor learning environment, including classroom displays that highlight student growth and instructional goals.
Resource Management: Manage classroom materials and budget responsibly to support daily operations.
Holistic Growth: Support social-emotional development through positive guidance, relationship-building, and a variety of sensory-based experiences.
Progress Monitoring: Utilize observation, documentation, and formal screenings to maintain accurate records of student development and inform future instruction.
Family Partnership: Maintain professional, regular communication with parents via weekly updates, formal written reports, and conferences.
Team Synergy: Collaborate with grade-level colleagues in weekly planning sessions to share resources and coordinate curriculum.
Division Involvement: Actively participate in weekly division meetings, monthly faculty meetings, and requested school functions.
Professional Growth: Commit to ongoing professional development to remain current in child development research and best practices.
School Stewardship: Uphold the school’s Episcopal identity and traditions while performing essential supervisory duties (lunch, recess, and carpool).
Qualifications:
Required
Minimum of 90 credit hours in child development or related field
Sound understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and child development
Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and collaboratively within a team.
Preferred
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education
Minimum of three years of teaching experience with young children
